APPLICATION AND USE
Preparation PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:
In Good Condition: Wash down with Super Cleaner, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Abrade with 320-400 grade (grit) paper.
In Poor Condition: Remove all previous coatings and prime the substrate.

BARE WOOD: Sand smooth with 120 grade paper, followed by 240 and finally 320 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying the first coat. Prime, if required, with International's Clear Wood Sealer Standard (Polygrond) and Clear Wood Sealer Fast Dry.

If Clear Wood Sealer has been omitted thin the first coat by 20-25% with Thinner No.9.

OILY WOODS e.g. Teak: Must be adequately degreased and prepared prior to the application of Perfection Plus. Thinners No.9, YTA910, YTA920 and YTA925 are suitable for degreasing purposes. Please ensure the surface is completely dry before applying the first coat.

Method If used over white or off white Perfection Finish, Perfection Plus should be blended 50:50 by volume with Perfection Finish. The use of tack rags and a reputable Wipe Down Solvent can help achieve the required level of cleanliness. During the cleaning process, wash down solvent or water must not be allowed to dry on the surface. Residues must be removed using dry paper wipes. Any sanding residue remaining on the surface can impair the finish.

Hints Mixing Stir individual products prior to mixing. Mix the base and curing agents of Perfection Plus together at the specified mix ratio. Add curing agent to the base, stir and leave for 10 minutes to allow bubbles to disperse. Avoid using direct from the can. Mix the amount you expect to use in a separate container.
Note: Any initial cloudiness will disappear upon thorough mixing.
Thinner YTA910, YTA920, YTA925 , Thinners No.9
Thinning Mix base and curing agent first and then thin as required. The choice of thinners will depend on the ambient temperature, the spray gun set up, application techniques and paint viscosity. As a general guide: 10-20°C - YTA910; 18-28°C - YTA920; >28°C - YTA925.
Cleaner YTA910, YTA915, YTA920, YTA925 , Thinners No.9
Conventional Spray Reduce viscosity to 14 seconds, DIN 4 cup or equivalent. Pressure: 3-4 bar. Tip Size: 1.0-1.4 mm.
Roller Use foam rollers. For best results when applying by roller, smooth off with a pad or brush.

Some Important Points Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 40°C/104°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 40°C/104°F. Do not use in high wind. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Avoid humid conditions. Do not apply over conventional paints or flexible constructions. Do not use unless mixed thoroughly with the curing agent at specified ratio. Not suitable for permanently immersed surfaces. Avoid applying late in the evening as condensation can cause a loss of gloss during overnight cure. Allow to dry in a well ventilated environment.

Compatibility/Substrates Apply over bare wood, sanded polyurethane finishes, International's Clear Wood Sealer Fast Dry. Ensure all sanding residues are removed before application of the Perfection Plus.
Can be blended with Perfection Finish as required but if used over white or off white Perfection Finish, Perfection Plus should be blended 50:50 by volume with Perfection Finish.
Will crack on carvel and clinker/lapstrake hulls. Do not use Perfection Plus on flexible constructions. Do not apply over any conventional, one pack products.

Number of Coats 2 - 5 (First coat thinned). Over bare wood apply 1 thinned coat (25%) + minimum 4 full coats, apply 2 full coats over Clear Wood Sealer Standard and Fast Dry. Apply 1 full coat if used as a Clear Coat.
The number of coats should be increased if applied by roller.

Coverage (Theoretical) - 13.30 (m²/lt)

Recommended DFT 37 microns dry
Recommended WFT 75 microns wet

Application Methods Conventional Spray, Brush, Roller
